Kayle and I went to our highly anticipated 8 week OB-GYN appointment today (St. Patrick's Day!). Little Hinkle/Little Bean/Little Bird is growing beautifully and has a healthy, strong heartbeat. We could even see the two halves of the heart beating alternately. The baby is about 1/2 inch long now with a little head, torso, webbed hands and feet, heart, kidneys, liver, appendix (already!?), and budding umbilical cord. The worst part of the appointment was getting my blood drawn (needles make me queasy). The strangest part was when the nurse said I would be able to see the baby sucking his/her thumb and peeing (gross) in a few more appointments. And the best part was holding Kayle's hand and gazing in wonder at the little heart of our sweet child. I also enjoyed showing the ultrasound pictures at work to my co-teachers and students. My youth group girls ask every time they see me what new features my baby is developing. It's a fun time of life to enjoy (when I'm not nauseous) and we both feel so blessed!

I will try to be better with posting on my blog... Somehow, I just couldn't get up the motivation after Christmas travel, a busy January, and an exhausted February (I thought it was SAD that had me dragging, but now I know I was newly pregnant). We'll just have to see how that resolution goes...
